I totally agree..
Even though I own all the Kirk releases that are download/iTunes only, including the three new ones, which I have only had time just to skim thru, I too cannot stand the non-physical format. I would much rather have a tangible product anyday!
I was thrilled to buy the Johnny Yesno set - the remixes were great. As well as the Sweet Exorcist RetroActivity album, which finally put out the excellent 4 original 12" singles of Testone and Clonk on CD with some unreleased tracks to boot.
I just wish Kirk would finally put out an actual 12" or CD. Its been years (not counting those two Cabaret Voltaire remix albums he did of other bands work in the last couple years).
The last new, non reissue, tangible Kirk release was five years ago! And that was only a four track EP - Fear (No Evil) 12" on Dust Science. The tracks were good...but even those tracks were also offered as downloads, as they also appeared on the download only album URP 4. I just hope he would come out with a nice solid physical album soon.. One that I can actually hold in my hands for Petes sake!
And is it asking too much for him to put out several releases in one year like he did in his golden age back in the 90s?
Man.. Now those were the days.
I love Kirk and I will keep buying his releases regardless. just really wish he would go back to throwing some physical product in the mix.

Grant

It's sad but these are the first Kirk release that I haven't bought instantaneously. SO far they get a big MEH from me. Esp. the one that's just Arpeggio variations. I almost think he's fucking with people to see what he can put out. And this after the awesome Johnny Yes/No remix. Sigh.

Haven't had time to listen to the new stuff yet (bought it last
night). The only stuff I've ever bought from iTunes have been
elsewhere non-available CV-/kirk related stuff from Intone. Most
releases have been excellent, but I must say this non-physical format
is definitely not for me. I much rather pay ?15 for a well pressed and
well packaged vinyl (or even cd) than ?7.99 for a download.
