To use the regular paradigm, from the Intellectual Nafs state you can see
a characteristic look in the eyes of others in that station, and can merge
with their viewpoint (and see where those in the Commanding Nafs and
Accusing Nafs are at, without having to get caught up in their dramas).

From the Satisfied Nafs state you get a kind of detachment that you can
recognize immediately in others, and you can still assume the viewpoint or
being of the lower states as needed.  The Satisfied Nafs state is often
confused with "being enlightened", as far as I can tell.
