Beauty is exactly the right word.  The word "ihsan," which is really a
synonym for the essence of Sufism, which was defined by the Prophet himself,
peace be upon him, in the hadith of Gabriel, saying "Ihsan is to worship
Allah as if you see Him -- you don't see Him? then know that he sees you" ---
the word is derived from the root .h-s-n meaning at once both "goodness" and
"beauty".  To perform ihsan, which is to realize the essence of Sufism, is to
achieve both goodness and beauty in what you do.  The Prophet also said in
another hadith that God wants us to do ihsan in all things -- whatever you
do, do it well -- when you slaughter, make sure the knife is very sharp.
