Fascinating example of becoming what you hate. Kill all violent people!

So, for centuries Christians burned magicians at the stake? An interesting
take on history! The Inquisition burned heretics, often declaring them to be
"witches". A heretic is someone who declares a religous tenet in
contradiction to the one you believe. It is not someone who uses magick.
There were all sorts of accusations made about these people in order to
convince the general population that these people had to be killed. Most of
those accusations were entirely fabricated. Many of those burned had done
nothing more than be in the wrong place at the wrong time.
