That reminds me of Pythagorus and gnostics. Perceiving a greater and greater degree of oneself, one transits the heavenly dimensions unto the celestial sphere and touches the realm of (the) God(s) (an old magical act). |I thought that was one of the goals of Druidism and Wicca; the quest for |knowledge. Wicca: doesn't seem to have a universal goal; there are certain riteforms in common and there are popular tales of rebirth in Happy Lands, but no overall goal in common as compared to the Christian Salvation or Buddhist Nirvana. Druidism: prior to a certain point in history, Druidism does not exist except as fancy among the sheets and masonic brik-a-brak of organized Druidism or the Neopagan version as brought to us by the Archdruid of Our Own Druidism. my own tree-loving path finds knowledge to be contradictory to the ethics of arboreal wisdom, a fine distinction made here in support of IMAGINATION over the less refined and more plentiful knowledge |Druidism is based on acquiring knowledge. news to me. knowledge about anything in particular? need to be based on anything, or shall we just begin constructing castles in the clouds? that would be a fabulous religion (we want knowledge! no, we don't care of what type, silly! ;>). |One of these conclusions arrived at |had to do with seperating the sexes, not for the sake of taking it away, but |only so that people could perform magic when they chose and the chain of |energy wouldn't be breached. This is a fascinating theory. Have you contrasted it with Muslim faiths? |Women have absorbsive energy and men passive, it just doesn't work. |Even in most Wiccan circles, you'll find the same thing. And you expect that others will confirm your assertions here? Do you consider this to be 'universally true'? Sounds somewhat radical to me. The Neopagans of whom I am aware did not ever express this desire for sex-separation to me at any time during my longterm familiarity. I suspect this is a jest. |...Druidism didn't perform sex magick, although, if you have some history |book which says they did, please bring it to my attention, or not. Well, if you're talking about history books then you must be talking about the old celtic priest class called 'druids'. Saying they performed sex magick is very similar to saying the same things about Knights Templar, or that they were secretly a homosexual tantric cult worshipping an alien god's head while they spat on crosses. It is entertaining, but there is little evidence to support these things. nagasiva@yronwode.com Lorax -- Ensure my response - CC public replies to email (READ ) (emailed replies may be posted) SEEK INFO: (PROTEST: 'indecency')
