In the case of "love spells", the generally fall into two catagories: 
those one casts on other people to attract them to oneself, and those 
cast _on_ oneself to create attractiveness _in_ oneself. I would venture 
to say that the overwhelming majority of requests posted here for such 
workings are requests for the former variety. In fact, those who ask for 
such spells are almost invariably neophytes or absolute rank beginners, 
who don't even realize that the latter variety of "love spell" exists
(and is far and away more likely to be effective!)

As such, the casting of "love spells" for purient interests is, in effect 
an attempt to ursurp the will of another person witjout tjeir knowledge 
or consent. This kind of action is the antithesis of magick, IMHO. It 
amounts to psychic rape. Therefore it is _not_ "potentially helpful", 
except in the sense it is helping a desperate person to violate the will 
of another. It is therefore greeted with the derision it so rightfully 
deserves.
