Well, I haven't been throwing temper tantrums, at least. I'd be happy to offer something better than Shakti Gawain, though. If someone wants to learn some of the basics of western magic, the two best introductions to the topic I have found are: Historical: Gareth Knight's "Magic and the Western Mind" Practical: Dolores Ashcroft-Nowicki's "Ritual Magic Workbook" Both of them are chock full of useful information, and refreshingly free of "new age" snake oil. For those of a more religious bent, I also recommend: Jewish: Aryeh Kaplan's "Meditation and Kabbalah" Pagan: Caitlin and John Matthews' "The Western Way" Christian: Robin Amis's "A Different Christianity" Amanda Walker
