You must be leaving something out of your indictment, because they ALL *profess* to be Buddhists. You just have standards that preclude your ACCEPTING some as Buddhists. > Clearly, one could point to a friendly neighborhood rock as > embodying the qualities of a Buddhist better than most Buddhists. Well, they sure have zazen down cold. > Extrapolating, the entire universe becomes Buddhist, so the term > "Buddhist" becomes utterly meaningless. No, not meaningless. It simply becomes impossible to differentiate and discriminate. You can no longer tell your baby from any other baby - you will have to love them all equally. Scary stuff, huh? > And then cats are dogs, green is white, purple trees sleep profoundly > during football games, and nothing means everything and yin is yang > and the absolute is the relative and samsara is nirvana and death is > life etc etc etc, as well. I think you've got it. Cats being dogs, green being white, and yin being yang shouldn't be a problem for a Buddhist. Is it for you? > Is *that* why the Buddha walked the earth? Yes. All things are in nirvana from the beginning. The only thing that separates them is a fevered brain. Ned (P.S. Purple trees and I sleep profoundly during football games.)
