Dogen's "Shobogenzo":

"For uncountable times foolish humans in large numbers believed the spiritual
consciousness of humans were the Buddha-being or were humans' original state
of such-ness - how ridiculous and off-the-way! [...] Budda-being is a fence,
a wall, a brick, a stone."
